Sermon #1 – DELIVERING

Acts 2:22-24 (NLT) – ²² “People of Israel, listen! God publicly endorsed Jesus the Nazarene by doing powerful miracles, wonders, and signs through him, as you well know. ²³ But God knew what would happen, and his prearranged plan was carried out when Jesus was betrayed. With the help of lawless Gentiles, you nailed him to a cross and killed him. ²⁴ But God released him from the horrors of death and raised him back to life, for death could not keep him in its grip.

Delivering is big business today (UPS, FEDEX, Amazon, etc.)

THE GREATEST DELIVERY BUSINESS IS GOD’S DELIVERY BUSINESS.

1. THE FATHER DELIVERED THE SON INTO THE PRESENCE OF MAN.

• The Gospel is a spiritual Gift certificate

• A gift certificate is a promissory note. The gift has ALREADY BEEN PAID FOR and is yours for the claiming.

• The gospel promises salvation for the claiming.

• Jesus was sent by the father to die for the sins of people.

2. THE SON DELIVERS SINNERS INTO THE PRESENCE OF THE FATHER.

• The custom of ancient courts.

• A steward controlled audience with the king. No one could see the king without his permission.

• Esther risk her life in bypassing the steward

• Joseph was the steward to Pharaoh.

There Is Only One Mediator Between God And People

• No One Can Come Into God’s Presence Except Through Jesus Christ

John 14:6 (NLT)⁶ Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.

• No One Can Have The Holy Spirit Except Through Jesus Christ.

In the O.T. the high priest was the mediator and only he could enter the Holy of Holies and deal with God on behalf of the people.

Because the love God has for you, Jesus became the High Priest.

Hebrews 4:14-16  (NLT)

¹⁴ So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. ¹⁵ This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. ¹⁶ So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

3. THE CHURCH DELIVERS SINNERS INTO THE PRESENCE OF JESUS

 

• That is the mission of the church

• To introduce sinners to the Savior.

• Its hard for sinners to be saved because of

Romans 10:14-15  (NLT)¹⁴ But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they be

That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!”

Conclusion: Which bring us to next Sunday topic. Because this is done by preaching the gospel.
