The Anointing Of The Holy Spirit – Oct. 25^th, 2020

Today I want to talk to you about the anointing.

• How many of you want an anointing over your life.
• I don’t know about you; but I want an anointing over my life,

An anointing that will cause me to do extraordinary things

• We are living in extraordinary days and we need the anointing of the Holy Ghost in our lives
• Because “the extraordinary” is what happens when the anointing is on our lives, that’s the kind of life I want to live.

Anybody can live an ordinary life, but if you and I are going to do extraordinary things for the kingdom, we need the anointing.

The word `anoint’ comes from the Hebrew. It means to smear or rub.’

This signifies that the presence of God is so smeared or rubbed on you like oil,

His presence that is left on you, causes divine excellence and power.

When you are anointed, you become empowered by God!

• The anointing is the empowerment of the Holy Spirit that causes us to operate in the supernatural.
• The anointing is the supernatural ability that the Holy Spirit brings into our lives that cannot be explained.
• The Holy Spirit gives you power within that enables you; to see, to think, to say and to do things ordinary men can’t.

This is the work of the anointing; it guides you and leads you in everything you do. ​

We need an extraordinary anointing. I need an extraordinary anointing………

“Anoint” means to set someone apart, to authorize and equip you for a task of spiritual importance.

Jesus Christ is set apart by the work of the Holy Spirit for his ministry of preaching, healing and deliverance.

The Holy Spirit sets Christians apart for their ministry in Christ’s name.

The Anointing of the Holy Ghost.

1. Why is the anointing so important?

The anointing of God’s Spirit enables one to do what only You can do in ministry and in the Kingdom of God.

Luke 4:18 ESV

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed,

Isaiah 61:1-11 ESV

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn; to grant to those who mourn in Zion— to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified.

2. What does the anointing do for you?

Anointing is the burden removing and yoke breaking power of God.

Isaiah 10:27 NKJV

²⁷ It shall come to pass in that day
That his burden will be taken away from your shoulder,
And his yoke from your neck,
And the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil.

3. Anointingis what empowers a man or a woman to function supernaturally.

Acts 19:11-12 ESV

And God was doing extraordinary miracles by the hands of Paul, so that even handkerchiefs or aprons that had touched his skin were carried away to the sick, and their diseases left them and the evil spirits came out of them.

 

4. Anointingis that which enables youto do supernatural things.

This is a must for those who have a passion for the anointing and the power of the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 9:37

Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few;

Luke 10:2 ESV

And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.

John 4:35 ESV

Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, then comes the harvest’? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest.

What are the results of anointing?

The anointing gives you authority over sickness, disease according to

James 5:14 ESV

Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.

And the bondage on your neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing”

Isaiah 10:27 ESV

And in that day his burden will depart from your shoulder, and his yoke from your neck; and the yoke will be broken because of the fat.”

The Purpose of The Anointing

God is calling us back in 2020 to get under the anointing.

May we make our banner in the twenty-first century and may it say the same thing it said in Zechariah 4:6, “Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.” May we reiterate the words of the prophets that were emphasized by Jesus—

THE ALMIGHTY GOD HAS INJECTED US WITH HIS SPIRIT TO FLOW IN THE ANOINTING

1 John 2:27 NLT

²⁷ But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ.

Psalm 69:9
